The “Not-So-Pretty” Year-End Review Every Baker Needs (But No One Talks About)
Dec 02, 2025
Soon you’re gonna be seeing A LOT of people post about HOW MUCH they made, HOW MUCH they achieved, and HOW amazing their year was.
You’ll start seeing posts like…
“2025 was my HIGHEST revenue-generating year yet!”
“We hit six figures!”
“I had a SOLD OUT holiday season!”
“I’m going to look at potential spaces for a retail location!”
And listen, I LOVE a good celebration more than the next guy. And we SHOULD celebrate all our wins (big and small)!
But what about those of us who didn’t have an amazing year? 😳
What about the business owner who had to SHUT DOWN their doors this year?
What about the entrepreneur who thought this would be her “BREAKTHROUGH” year, but instead felt like she was CRAWLING just to get by? 😕
What about the mom who had big plans and big dreams this year, only to get doors slammed in her face at every turn?
Lemme just tell you that it’s OKAY if the only thing you did this year was wake up and get through it. Remember, social media is a highlight reel. Nobody is out here posting all the HARDSHIPS, challenges, devastation, and straight-up BULLSH*T 2025 brought them.
So if this is your reality this year, trust me when I say you’re not alone, friend!
And before we go falling down a rabbit hole of comparison- I want to remind you that ONE YEAR doesn’t define YOU. But what you do NEXT will.
That’s exactly why I want us to walk through a real end-of-year review together - not the sunshine and rainbows one you see online, but the honest, unfiltered one that actually helps you come back stronger in 2026.
So let’s get into it…
1. SALES: “Where did your money ACTUALLY come from?”
Before you create NEW goals for 2026 or dream up new ideas, you’ve got to look back and REFLECT:
- What products or services actually brought in revenue?
- Which months were strong - and which ones took a dip?
- What promos worked… and what totally flopped?
- Did I depend on luck instead of strategy?
- Did I wait until I was desperate to start marketing?
This isn’t about beating yourself up for the things you didn’t do.
This is about understanding your business through FACTS, not feelings.
Because when you look at your numbers objectively, that’s when the REAL clarity happens.
You stop guessing through every aspect of your business and start making decisions like a CEO.
2026 YOU needs this type of clarity.
2. PRICING & PROFIT: “Was I busy… or was I profitable?”
This one hits hard because being BUSY feels productive… but it can also be a trap.
So many bakers will say, “I had more orders than ever!” “My revenue has grown month after month.” But their bank accounts didn’t reflect that. 🤔
Why?
Because being BUSY doesn’t equal being profitable.
So ask yourself:
- Which items had great margins?
- Which ones drained your time AND your bank account?
- Did you raise your prices when you needed to?
- Did fear keep you frozen?
- Were you making decisions from confidence… or survival mode?
If you spent the whole year sprinting and STILL felt broke?
You don’t have a marketing problem - you have a profitability problem.
And the GOOD news is… that’s fixable.
3. OPERATIONS: “Did my systems support me or sabotage me?”
Your HABITS bleed into your business.
👉🏼 READ THAT AGAIN 👈🏼
If your personal life constantly feels disorganized, overwhelming, and chaotic, ALL of those habits will bleed into your business, whether you think it will or not.
This is why I constantly preach the importance of systems and processes in your business.
They can either make your life a living hell (aka when you don’t have them!) OR they can make your life and business run SMOOTHER and MORE EFFICIENT.
So did your processes fall apart this time? Or did they help you excel?
- Missing messages?
- Confusing pre-order forms?
- Lost order details?
- Inventory issues?
- Recipes everywhere except where you need them?
- Constantly feeling like you were behind… even on a “slow” week?
This is about leveraging processes to HELP you become more organized, to prevent problems, to become a better leader, and free up some time off your overflowing plate so you can do CEO things- like plan, create, and dream bigger.
You can’t SCALE a business while barely surviving. Period.
Imagine walking into 2026 with workflows that SAVE you time instead of stealing your sanity.
Sounds dreamy, right?
4. MARKETING: “Did people KNOW me, FIND me, and TRUST me?”
You can’t run a FULL-TIME business on PART-TIME effort.
And before you come for me, I get it. So many business owners ARE doing this part-time while juggling a full-time job, kids, life responsibilities, and it’s freaking tough. (If it were easy, MORE people would be entrepreneurs). But I want to remind you that part-time hours do NOT mean half-assed effort.
If you’re only showing up, promoting your business when you “feel like it” or “have time”, you’re setting yourself up for long-term frustration.
If you want consistent income, growth, and to actually make this business your full-time job one day that you’ve gotta treat it like it ALREADY is one.
So did you show up consistently? Or did you only market your business when you needed orders?
Did you plan out your content? Or were you throwing things at the wall, hoping something would “hit?”
Did you nurture your audience during the slow months? Or did you disappear because you felt discouraged?
Listen - there’s ZERO judgment here. But connection and consistency matter.
Your audience can’t buy from a business they can’t see.
5. MINDSET & CAPACITY: “Did I grow… or did I grind myself down?”
If this year felt heavy, overwhelming, or draining…there’s a reason for that.
Not excuses. REASONS.
Ask yourself:
- Where did fear hold me back?
- Where did comparison steal my confidence?
- What patterns keep repeating that aren’t ADDING to my life and business?
- What boundaries did I let slide?
- What did burnout teach me about how I want to lead myself differently next year?
The habits that hurt you in 2025 won’t magically disappear on January 1st.
But they WILL lose their power over you once you acknowledge them and choose to act and show up differently.
This is where the TRUE transformation begins.
This Wasn’t Your “Failure Year.” It Was Your FOUNDATION Year.
There’s this quote by Brianna West that says:
“Sometimes, you get what you want. Other times, you get a lesson in patience, timing, alignment, empathy, compassion, faith, perseverance, resilience, humility, purpose, clarity, grief, beauty, and life. Either way, you win.”
This year may have been a season where you didn’t really get what you wanted. And if I’m being honest, I’m in MORE of a season of learning the lessons I need right now.
But here’s the thing: Slow progress is still progress. Messy progress is still progress
Your 2025 might not have been pretty.
It might not have been share-worthy.
It might not have felt victorious.
But these “UN-PRETTY” seasons grow you, test you, and reveal more about YOU and refine you into the next level version of who you’re becoming.
And you know what? I’m here for ALL of it!
Your clarity era.
Your comeback is in the making.
Ready to make 2026 your WINNING year?
You don’t need another year of throwing things at the wall and waiting to see what happens.
You don’t need another year of working til burnout.
You don’t need another year of feeling behind while everyone else is “winning.”

You need CLARITY. A PLAN. A STRATEGY. And SUPPORT.
