Pricing LIES That Are Keeping Your Bakery BROKE!

Sep 10, 2024

Serious question… Do you have an EXPENSIVE ASS hobby or a legitimate business?

Your prices are a direct representation of your worth! If you don’t value your time, energy, labor, and work, how do you expect your customers to?

There are SO MANY bullshit lies in the baking industry about how you should be charging for your baked goods when in reality these “pricing tips” are keeping your bakery BROKE!

That’s why I created a FREE DOWNLOAD just for you full of my TOP 10 B.S. pricing tips so you can AVOID these “pricing” red flags and start making the money you deserve!

You can download those pricing tips here! But while you’re reading this here are a few HUGE red flags to watch out for!

1. You need to price LOW to build a customer base! (NOPE!)

Starting off with low prices to attract customers can actually BACKFIRE in your business. While you might gain some initial traction, you’re also setting the precedent with your customers that your products are cheap. Therefore setting you up as the “LOW PRICE LEADER” in your community. This makes it incredibly difficult to raise your prices later on when you’re finally “ready” to charge your worth. Instead, focus on “pricing based on value” and attracting customers who appreciate your quality from the start.

2. Raising Prices will drive customers away (This is absolutely unequivocally FALSE!)

A common fear amongst bakers and small business owners alike is that raising prices will scare off customers. Don’t get me wrong, you will lose some cheap, bargain hunters, but the RIGHT customers will stay because they value the quality and work that you bring to the table. Be confident in explaining your price increases and the quality of what you offer. Customers who appreciate your work are willing to pay what it’s worth. And remember that whenever you raise your prices, although you’ll lose some customers, you also open your business up to an entirely new clientele who are WILLING to pay your price.

3. Wait until you get GOOD, then charge more (WRONG!)

This ties to another B.S. tip of “ don’t charge by the hour if you’re new.” Your time is important, no matter what the level. If you were to work for someone else as an entry-level job (take a bakery for example) it is ILLEGAL for them not to pay you at least minimum wage! So why would you ever do that to yourself just because this is your business? It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie beginner or a seasoned pro you NEED to be charging for your time and labor. If you’re just starting out wondering how much to pay yourself, I suggest paying yourself at least minimum wage for your state, and then as your skills get better, you got some skin in the game, then give yourself a nice little raise.

The most important thing to know is we ALL run our businesses differently. We all have different processes. We all have different levels of expertise. And we all live across the globe. The industry standards are different in comparison to major metropolitan cities like LA or NY.

You’ve got to know your numbers and what you NEED to make in order for this business to be PROFITABLE! Numbers are your friend and if you don’t know your numbers then you’re not serious about your business. #SorryNotSorry!

I want you to be successful friend. I want you to demand your worth. I want you to attract clients who will GLADLY pay your price. But you have to stop making these major pricing mistakes if you wanna do that.

So download my FREE B.S. pricing tips here and let’s start evaluating those prices so you can start making some money!
