Is Entrepreneurship Right for Me? 3 Things to Consider Before You Go All In
Feb 10, 2026Now that we’re a MONTH into 2026 (can you believe it?) Some of us are still going strong on those New Year’s resolutions, but for many of us, the motivation may be dying down a bit. But I believe that it’s NEVER too late to start something new. And taking MESSY, imperfect action (even if it looks different from what you envisioned or planned) is better than wondering what COULD’VE been. You feel me??

And in my opinion, one of the best ways to do something different- but I also believe NOT everyone is meant for entrepreneurship… at least not in every season**.** ๐
And that’s a conversation we don’t NEARLY have enough.
Somewhere along the way, social media convinced people that:
- starting a business = freedom
- quitting your 9–5 = success
- struggling = you’re doing it “right”
And I’m here to tell you that’s B.S.
Here are 3 things you NEED to consider if you’re running a business, thinking about growth, or questioning whether this path is actually for you ๐
You’re gonna do a lot of sh*t you DIDN’T sign up for
And the list is endless.
People love to ROMANTICIZE the idea of running a business.
“I just want to do what I love.”
“It won’t feel like work if I’m passionate.”

Running a business is WORK. And the FACT is that there’s a LOT more to it than baking and making pretty things.
In fact, more than half of the time, you’re going to be neck-deep in paperwork, figuring out finances, marketing, processes, leadership, and SO MUCH more.
As a business owner, you’re gonna be wearing multiple hats, even if you have team members to delegate to (which is RARE to have in the beginning, but that’s a story for another time), and that’s something most people who’re starting out don’t even realize.
It’s going to cost you MORE than just money.
Everyone knows starting a business costs money. A lottttttttttt of money! But the TRUE cost is more than just a number…
But the real cost?
- Your time.
- Your energy.
- Your mental capacity.
- You’ll spend weekends working.
- You’ll question yourself.
- You’ll fail before you figure things out.
- You’ll have to LEARN things you never planned on learning.
And if you’re already stretched thin…
If you don’t have boundaries in your life…
If you’re expecting fast results…
Entrepreneurship will feel heavy AF.
And again, that doesn’t necessarily mean entrepreneurship isn’t for you.
It just means you might not be ready for MASSIVE growth yet.
You CAN’T take sh*t personally.
I’m known to tell it like it is, sis. So here’s the truth: NOT everyone is going to support you. PERIOD.

Sometimes, even your family members and the people you EXPECT love and support from will disappoint you. You’ll often be met with skepticism and rejection, which will be painful.
And the truth is that not everyone will love your products or give your 5-star reviews either, because you’re not meant to please and serve everyone.
But it’s not going to be the end of the world. And you’ll need to learn not to take things PERSONALLY. This business is NOT your “baby”, so you can’t treat it like one. We just keep it movin’.
So… WHAT does this actually mean?
It means this:
๐ Entrepreneurship is not meant for everyone.
๐ Growth is not automatic.
๐ And pushing for the next level before you’re ready is how people burn out.
Some people hear stories about rejection and struggle and feel FIRED UP.
Others hear them and think, “Yeah… no thanks.”
Neither is wrong.
But pretending you’re ready when you’re not?
That’s where things fall apart. And EXACTLY why I put together a FREE QUIZ to help show you:
- what stage of business you’re actually in
- Highlight WHAT you need to focus on RIGHT NOW
- A personalized list of resources based on where you’re at
Because when we know better, we DO better.
Final Word
I would never lie to you and tell you it’s easy (because damn it, IT’S NOT!), but it can be enjoyable. Especially if you stop holding on to THINKING, all the pieces should just fall into place RIGHT NOW!
Xo, Janelle
P.S. If BUSINESS/ENTREPRENEURSHIP were easy, EVERYONE would be successful. But that’s not the case now, is it?โ So stop thinking it’s supposed to be EASY.โ
Be thankful for all the NO’s, challenges, and obstacles you’re faced with... Because trust me, you won’t realize you actually have wings, until you NEED TO FLY! ๐ฆ โ
If this kind of stuff makes you feel uncomfortable, vs. GETTING YOUR ASS IN GEAR, then it’s likely you’re struggling in your business, and you’re looking for the EASY way to success. And I say that with TONS of tough love.
