We're constantly trying to make it to the next big thing, and sometimes we miss out on the very things that could have made us happier and fulfilled. All work and no play will not only lead to burn-out, but it will also lead to a life that's out of balance. Sometimes the very thing you need is LESS! While It might seem counterproductive, taking on fewer orders and giving up perfectionism is actually key to healthy work-life balance.
Everyone's definition of work-life balance differs, but finding a healthy separation between work and life allows you to feel refreshed and productive - in turn, allowing you to pursue your business goals further. If you’re looking to find or maintain more balance, look no further. Check out these 7 tips to help you find more work-life balance.
There’s no award for overworked female of the year… and frankly if there were, that’s not an award you want to brag about winning! Being praised as superwoman may feel good in the moment, but at what cost? Having healthy boundaries and declining orders or clients when you know your plate is full is not only wise, but it’s also crucial to your mental health. Set realistic expectations for yourself. You don’t have to be a superwoman to be successful. In fact, trying to do it all is often the quickest way to burnout. Be realistic about what you can accomplish in a day, week, or month, and focus on quality over quantity.
Literally during my work hours my kids can’t get a hold of me (mind you my kids are grown) They know if I’m working my phone is set to “do not disturb” I’m working. This setting on your phone needs to be your new BFF! I know it It can feel like a big deal to cut yourself off from the world, but trust me, once you do, you’ll never want to go back. AND in the same way when I’m not working, I’M NOT WORKING. I Make time for things that are important to me outside of my business. In order to achieve work life balance you need to set boundaries.
I constantly hear people complain they don’t even have time to eat, let alone take the time to go to the dentist / doctor, schedule a workout, or take a day off to recharge. You need to make sure you are taking the time to step away and take a break, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Go for a walk, get some fresh air or grab a cup of coffee. Taking regular breaks will help you stay refreshed and focused, ready to take on whatever challenges come your way.
If you don't take time to see what's working and what is not, you're always going to feel behind… At the end of each day, week, or month, take some time to reflect on what you’ve accomplished. This will help you stay motivated and keep your goals in mind. It can also help you identify areas where you may need to make some changes. For years, journaling has been a huge part of my own personal development and growth and after going through thousands of journals, I have learned something great from each one. But over the past few years, I've been using my OWN creation which I'm so excited to SHARE with you! No is a complete sentence. Stop trying to say yes to every “opportunity”
More often than not if you find yourself constantly overwhelmed it's because you’re devoting your time and energy to things that aren’t necessarily productive in your life. Simplify your work and personal life by saying NO! That way, you can focus on what’s truly important.
It’s important to make time for yourself. Taking some time for yourself will help you recharge and be at your best when you are working. One way you can do this is by connecting with other like-minded women. A Real Treat is a fun night of networking and business conversations that can benefit all different business professionals.
We wouldn’t skip a cake order or a tasting with a new client, so why is it so easy for us to cancel on ourselves? Nixing your "me" time for the short term can seem like a quick fix to a busy day. But in the long term, neglecting personal care can be a one-way ticket to anxiety, distractibility, and fatigue.
Schedule activities into your week just like you would a cake order and make sure you stick to it. Investing time into yourself or into hobbies that ignite your passions away from your business gives you the chance to be your best self so that you can show up in your business fully refreshed and ready to handle anything.
In today’s world, it can feel like we never have enough time. We are constantly working to keep up with the demands of our jobs and personal lives. But there is a way to make sure that you’re taking care not just of your work life but also your personal life so they don't become one in the same.
By following the tips above, you can make sure that you’re giving yourself the time and space you need to recharge and be your best self. This way, you can avoid burnout and live a more balanced life. So take some time for yourself, say no when you need to, and make sure you have things to look forward to. Your future self will thank you!
