Parenting Advice From A 14 & 16 Year Old

Jan 21, 2020

Parenting is tough! But parenting teenage girls, is a whole other level! And if you’re a parent to teenagers then you know the struggle!

As a parent, it can be difficult to navigate when and how to ask your children certain questions. How much privacy you should give them? What age is appropriate to give them certain freedoms? When is the right time to ask what’s bothering them? When to stop reassuring them that they can talk to you about everything? The list goes on and on…

So we decided to sit and have a conversation with two of our daughters, a 14 & 16 year old. Needless to say, it was a very enlightening  conversation.

We discussed school, what they think of us as parents, our different personalities, the #MeToo movement, the future, privacy and so much more!

Basically, everything a parent would wanna know when communicating with their kids, we asked! Find out what our kids said about our biggest wins and failures as parents in this episode of the Push Podcast!

To give you an idea, here's a breakdown of what Eddie & I discussed…

  • Kaylah and Jordan explain the “ok, boomer” expression (01:25)
  • Ideas on how to start a conversation with your children (05:15)
  • Eddie and I share our impressions about the girls’ personalities (06:30
  • Kaylah and Jordan share their impressions on our personality (09:29)
  • The girls give us a full review of school? (12:43)
  • What do your parents do that drives you crazy? (17:30)
  • We address the #Metoo movement and the girls share their view on this matter (21:55)
  • The importance of keeping an open conversation in your family and actually listen to them (25:41)
  • Helicopter parents, over-restrictive rules and respecting your kid’s privacy (27:40)
  • Teaching your kids to face more challenges and to advocate for themselves (33:30)

Hopefully this episode gives you some ideas on how to create a deeper connection with your kids and how to communicate stronger.
