When is the right time to QUIT or PIVOT your business?

Let’s talk about it!

So often I get messages from other small business owners asking me HOW I knew it was time to QUIT my business, so I wanna share my experience with you!

A little backstory, I started my baking business in 2009, in the middle of a recession, with absolutely NOTHING! From home, right after filing for bankruptcy with my husbands ex! (Yup, you read that right!)

After 18 months of blood, sweat, and RIVERS OF TEARS, I opened my first storefront! After 12 YEARS, and building my business into a multi-million dollar brand, I decided to RETIRE and QUIT! (This actually took me 2 years to finally decide and take action!) So, if you’re feeling like you’re on the fence about throwing in the towel- keep on reading cause this is important!

There was a TON of thought that went into this decision, which I share on my podcast! (You can listen to that episode by clicking here) but here’s the TOP 3 reasons I knew it was time to close this chapter and start something new…

1. I’m a completely different person NOW vs. BACK THEN in 2009. And I’m continuing to grow and evolve every single day.
2. My priorities and passions shifted. My life, family, children, and goals are all different and required me to INVEST my time, creativity, and energy in other ways.
3. It had been over a freaking DECADE! I put in my time, did the work required, built something INCREDIBLE (and lasting if I wanted that), and I was excited for the next chapter of my life.

I can talk about my decision in depth for HOURS but I wanna leave you with this…

If you’re questioning whether or not you wanna continue this “business” in 2024 or anything that you started and you’re not sure if you should keep going, here’s my advice: We ALL have things we love, that we eventually outgrow.

But before you QUIT or PIVOT, you need to take some time to REST, RECOVER, and actually see what YOU want to spend the next 5-7 years of your life doing. And that may require you to sit with yourself and actually understand WHO you are and WHAT you want.

I would recommend trying new tactics (obviously, I share WEEKS worth of tactics, processes, and strategies inside my masterclass, Passion To Profit) but I would HIGHLY recommend throwing all your eggs into one basket and giving it your all. Because more often than not, you just need to do something different!

After that, you should have clarity you need to decide whether it’s time to throw in the towel or PUSH through.

You see friend, that passion you once had can be rediscovered. It could happen immediately, it could happen over a course of weeks, or it can happen YEARS down the line. Or it may not happen at all- but that passion will be redirected into something NEW!

So, if you’re reading this and feeling stuck on what the right move is for you, take these next couple weeks and really ask yourself what it is you want and what you want your life to look. I know it can be scary (which is why it took me 2 years to finally decide) but eventually you have to take the first step one direction or another.
