Let’s talk about EVENTS!!!

Y’all wanna sign up for ALL KINDS of EVENTS! But listen up...not all events are worthy of your time! Let’s be real...MOST people want to participate in EVENTS & POP-UPS to simply make money. SHOW ME THE MONEY!!

I get it! BELIEVE me I do. BUT what some people don’t understand is EVENTS & POP-UPS are an opportunity to put YOUR BRAND’S best foot forward! I mean, when you realize that the point of participating in ANY event is the gain of FUTURE CLIENTS, not only will you put some thoughtfulness and energy into how you present your business and products, but MONEY (and customers) will FOLLOW TOO!

OK! So is your next pop-up or event worth it? Let’s figure this out together!

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF

Who’s attending? Are they my ideal client? What type of event is it (indoor, Farmers Market, Trade Show, Community Event, Industry Show, Concert? Location of event? Would my product be a good fit there? What would they want me to bring? 

It’s so important to ask and know this information because we want more than just the initial sale. We want those customers to want to follow you on Social Media and want you to be a part of THEIR next event. Would your beautiful artistic Macarons be a good fit at an outdoor Country concert? Probably not... unless you integrate all your branding with the Country music theme, YOU might not be a memorable vendor like the beer, bbq, boot & hat, and jewelry stand are. Without it being said each EVENT will provide a certain customer and type of awareness.

WHAT WILL IT COST YOU?

How much will my space be? Is the event raising $$$ for a charity and what kind of donations are they requesting from me? Would I have to rent or buy anything to make it work for me? Will it be worth it?

This really depends on what type of Event it is. Some will just be a dime in the bucket which is great when you're just starting or want to show up in your community. BUT there will be times where it will cost you, BUT could take your business to another level of success if done right!

HOW DO YOU MAKE IT WORTH IT?

I know what you're thinking! We are back to money and the only way it would be worth it is if YOU SELL OUT! Right?! Well yeah BUT it's not the only thing...EXPOSURE and knowing how to convert people to customers! 

  • Interact with people.
  • Come out from behind your booth to share your product & what other things you offer.
  • Have help so you can be available and be the expert and answer questions.
  • Have a goal and set intentions.
  • Make it convenient for people to purchase: menu, product tags, pricing, take all forms of payment.

HOW TO STAND OUT?

Packaging MATTERS!! Your set-up MATTERS!! And please make sure it all aligns with your branding or YOU WILL BE FORGETTABLE!! And YOU! Don’t forget to bring your amazing personality to the EVENT.

Packaging matters. A 4-pack at a family event is great! But at a concert where maybe people are on a date night or drinking, or dancing might be too much. Think about how to meet the customers where they are. Example: If they’re at a concert, do they want to carry a big box? Do they even WANT 4 cupcakes? NO! They’re gonna be looking at you with your big box of cupcakes thinking, “Even if I WANT THIS, where the hell am I gonna put this?” Maybe your setup is so good it attracts them to come over and offering grab-n-go or small bite options is the way to go with a QR code to scan (because you know they have their phones out anyways) so they remember you the next day!

HOW MUCH SHOULD I SELL MY PRODUCT FOR?

Narrow down your assortment. Keep the pricing simple. 

Maybe you have 4 options, and every option is $6.

Create bundle pricing. Although every item is $6, if you buy 3 you get a discount, so 3 for $15.
