What we learned this week, that you should learn too!

Feb 16, 2021

You wanna know why I take notes ALL the time? Because I’m a true believer that things cross our paths for a reason.

As we get older, it’s so much easier for us to just say, “I already know that,” (which we talked about in episode 74) but in reality, the things we think we know is what’s holding us back from taking action in our lives.

The reason I’m sharing this with you is because if you’ve been following me recently on Instagram (@janellecopeland) then you know that I’ve become #OBSESSED with Clubhouse!! If you don’t know what Clubhouse is then you need to get on it and get yourself an invite! In short, it’s an app that’s like LIVE Ted Talks, podcasts, and seminars that you have a front row seat too! The BEST part is it’s audio only and you have the option to contribute to the conversation or consume information from people ALL over the world, including billionaire’s, growth & mindset coaches, and even celebrities.

Now do you see WHY I’m obsessed??? It’s like that analogy of the fly on the wall.

Anyway, this week Eddie and I have been popping into a ton of rooms and we learned some eye-opening things that we think you could benefit from too!

Here’s a breakdown of what Eddie and I discussed…

  • What rich people teach their kids about money (13:11)
  • Why you should be changing your beliefs around money (18:46)
  • The power of Delayed gratification: The marshmallow experiment (21:38)
  • The four pillar of fitness (24:48)
  • Are you a wolf, bear, dolphin, or lion? How to achieve more by understanding your chronotype (27:59)
  • 30 questions to ask your parents before it's too late (32:24)
  • There's no magic bullet; you simply have to work (35:00)
  • How to find more clarity (37:22)
  • Why an intolerance of boredom is stopping you from achieving anything (44:32)

One of the key topics that stood out to us was the idea of how millionaires teach their kids about money. Now as parents to three daughters, and as individuals who came from nothing, this conversation was something that Eddie and I both had felt drawn too.

We learned that to grow wealthy, you have to change your attitude and perception around money. Millionaires live in a mindset of abundance around money; that it will continually flow into their lives, versus Eddie and I, who when growing up, money was scarce and we were taught to be frugal around our money, like there could never be enough. We have to teach our kids that money is not scary or evil, they have to be willing to work for it and show them different opportunities to multiply it.

We also learned about the power of delayed gratification and how to control impulses, especially as it relates to financial discipline, something we should ALL start practicing!

There was just so much to discuss and digest that we had to share it with you in this week’s episode! Tune in to hear more lessons and how you can apply them to your life!

Happy Listening!
