How To Let Go Of Your Expectations

Jul 28, 2020

Have you ever had a conversation with your significant other, best friend, or relative and realized about halfway through that there was no way you were going to agree with the decision made.

We’ve all been there; including myself and Eddie, but that’s why I believe our relationship is so great. There’s a mutual respect for one another’s opinion and ultimately we’re able to show one another a new perspective on what we’re discussing.

Why I bring this up now is because we were discussing a book we were reading with our PUSHER Society (if you haven’t joined or heard about it, you should definitely get in ASAP 😉) and it triggered a conversation that I completely disagree with.

In the book it discusses that we create everything twice in our lifetime, but for me I believe that life is ever-changing and ever-evolving, and it’s up to us to recreate and revise what we see for our lives as we move forward.

Here’s a breakdown of what Eddie and I discussed…

  • Creating everything twice first in the mind and then secondly in the physical world (04:09)
  • Life is ever-changing and evolving. It is a process of constant revisions (05:27)
  • There are two states of mind, the creation state and the problem state (07:50)
  • There is no arrival period in life, you are in a constant state of revision (10:27)
  • There's going be speed bumps along the way and then to revise again (12:42)
  • Collecting new information along the journey of life and gaining new perspectives (14:46)
  • Adaptability allows you to create something great (15:35)
  • Focusing on what you are becoming so that you don’t miss things along the way (21:06)
  • Knowing what you want and being open to collaboration and learning (27:00)

Even though we may be constantly creating in our lives through the decisions we make, I believe that we hold the power to rewrite our story. When I started my business I had a vision for how it would turn out, and then, I was hit hard by reality.

More often than not, life doesn’t go as planned. There are risks that are necessary in order to grow. There are lessons that need to be learned and it’s up to us to solve and create solutions in order to live out the life we want. It’s in the moments that we continually think about what could go wrong or how nothing will change, when we’re faced with the truth of life. When we learn along the way and we embrace that, life blesses us with amazing creations.

Happy Listening Friend!
