3 WAYS to Be MORE Productive in Your Baking Business
Oct 21, 2025
Let’s be honest, friend…
You don’t need MORE time- you need a BETTER PLAN.
Because if you’re constantly feeling behind, being pulled between orders, managing messages, and putting out fires in your business, the problem isn’t your calendar… It’s your TIME MANAGEMENT.
I get it. I was just like YOU at one point. You’re the DOER of all things. You’re operating your business as the SOLOPRENEUR, one-woman show. You wear ALL the hats - baker, decorator, social media manager, dishwasher, accountant, and therapist (to yourself 😅). But if you want your business to stop feeling CHAOTIC and OVERWHELMING and start feeling like you’re in CONTROL, here are 3 powerful ways to be more productive in your baking business 👇🏼
1. Plan your day ahead of time.
Spend 30 minutes at the end of each day going through everything you need to do the following day and plan out with times (with buffers and padding for interruptions and the unknown). PRO TIP: Any activity or conversation that's important to your success should have a specific TIME assigned to it. (from answering emails to baking, decorating, and even lunch.) When you assign time to a task, you give it structure. When you give it structure, you create focus.
2. Limit distractions. (Especially SOCIAL MEDIA!)
One of the BIGGEST productivity killers, I see TONS of bakers and business owners fall into is their phones. If you’re checking social media 52 times a day “for inspiration,” you’re not strategizing - you’re procrastinating on the sh*t that actually NEEDS to get done. Create a social media strategy. A strategy is the time spent that was allotted to that activity. Wasting time on social media and randomly checking it 52 times throughout the day is NOT a strategy. Schedule times or give yourself rewards for not checking Facebook and Instagram throughout the day. *Scheduling a lunchtime post, or engaging with other accounts at that time, is PERFECT, because everyone else is on social media at lunch too!
3. Build in BUFFERS.
One thing tons of entrepreneurs underestimate is HOW LONG things actually take. Add a buffer and know that you will always UNDERESTIMATE what or how many things you can get done in a day. Allowing and scheduling for buffers will eliminate frustration, anxiety, and overwhelm.
BONUS TOPICS to get you thinking about how COSTLY your TIME really is!
- You’re giving up one thing to focus on another. (What are you trading for what?)
- Get really good at SELF REGULATING. Discipline is the bridge between goals and results. You don’t need MORE motivation - you need better HABITS.
- Act like a CEO. A CEO doesn’t just “do” - they decide, delegate, and lead. Start managing your time like the boss you are.
- Get your mindset right! Productivity starts with YOU, in your head. You can’t run an efficient business with a CLUTTERED mind.
You don’t need a 48-hour day to actually cross things off your to-do list. You just need to use the 24 hours you already have BETTER.
Plan ahead.
Protect your time.
And make space for the things that actually matter.
Do that, and you’ll stop feeling like your business is running you - and start running it like a CEO.
